Dr. Schwartz graduated from the University of California School of Optometry in 1979 and established a private practice in Grants Pass that very same year. In his over 36 years as an optometrist, he has helped thousands and thousands of local residents. Prior to becoming an optometrist, Dr. Schwartz and his family spent nine years in the San Francisco Bay area, while he completed college and his military service (Navy: Assigned to Naval Air Station, Alameda, CA. Worked as an aviation electrician on H-3 helicopters).
Dr. Schwartz works full time, but when not working he enjoys traveling, home projects (including working on his 1979 Corvette). In 2005, he earned his pilot’s license and rents a Cessna 172 to fly around the area with family and friends. Dr. Schwartz is also very connected with his church, volunteering to assist in leadership and teaching.
With experienced personnel, plus traditional eye care methods and modern eye exam equipment, Michael Schwartz eye care has never been better. Our team takes the time to make sure that both your vision and your eye health needs are taken into account: There are no “assembly line” or cookie cutter solutions. Each patient is unique with unique needs.
Linda has been our front office assistant for ten years. Her hobbies include gardening and singing. She has two daughters and really, really cute grandchildren.
Debbie is our ever-smiling optician. She has seventeen year’s experience in the optometric field, and works at our office full-time. She completed formal training as an Optical Technician at the San Diego College of Medical and Dental Assistants. Debbie’s pastimes include her family, coaching girl’s basketball, and teaching at her church.
Paula, our newest team member, brings 40 years of customer service, smiles, and laughter into the office. Her passions are the LOVE of God, family, neighbor, the great outdoors, animals, and music.

• KOWA digital camera creates photos of your eye’s interior. We store these photos for future reference.
• Zeiss Cirrus Optical Coherence Tomographer gives highly-detailed views and measurements of eye details. Essential for evaluating glaucoma, macular degeneration, and plaquenil therapy.
• Haag-Streit digital slit lamp camera for external eye evaluation
• Haag-Streit visual field analyzer for testing and analysis of peripheral vision
In addition, we carry a full stock of diagnostic contact lenses, eyeglass frames, and eyeglass repair parts and equipment.
Our office accepts most forms of insurance, including AllCare Health, Pacific Source, Blue Cross, MODA, Oregon Health Plan, Visual Service Plan, and many others. Co-payments can be made with cash, personal checks, debit card, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express.
